The ankle must be feeling good again because LiAngelo Ball went off in a California playoff win for No. 8 Chino Hills on Friday night.

Hampered by a lingering ankle injury late in the season, the 6-foot-5 senior erupted for 52 points as the Huskies rolled up Los Angeles City Section champ Birmingham (Lake Balboa) 130-110 in CIF State Open Division first round action.

Chino Hills (30-2) put up 35 points in the second quarter then 30 more in the third to put things out of reach for the Patriots, who received 39 points from unsigned senior star Devante Doutrive.

Birmingham (27-4) entered without a loss since Dec. 27 but it is the defending state and national champions who will move on to the second round.

LaMelo Ball added 17 points and 15 assists for Chino Hills while Elizjah Scott (21 points) and Onyeka Okongwu (22) both had big outings.
