Football Recap: Rockford East Falls to Jefferson in First Game of Season

Rockford East unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Jefferson J-Hawks by a score of 3-0 on Thursday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Rockford East and Jefferson could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The E-Rabs (ranked 304th) will meet Boylan Catholic (ranked 99th) at 7:15 p.m. on September 5. Meanwhile, Jefferson will take on Hononegah at 7:15 p.m. on September 5 with a big rank disadvantage (354 vs. 111).
