Softball Recap: Dyer County Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dyer County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Adamsville Cardinals 5-4. That's more bragging rights for the Choctaws, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Dyer County got a great performance from Molly Woody as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Dyer County let Evie Rogers and Kierstyn Ray run wild. Rogers went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, while Ray scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI Rogers has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma McGavock, who scored two runs and stole Three bases.

Dyer County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Adamsville struck out six times.

The victory made it two in a row for Dyer County and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Adamsville, their record now sits at 5-2.

Looking ahead, Dyer County will host Munford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Munford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Adamsville, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Adamsville Cardinals take on Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
