Baseball Game Preview: Oak Hills Highlanders vs. Sycamore Aviators

The Oak Hills Highlanders are taking a road trip to challenge the Sycamore Aviators at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Hills will be strutting in after a victory while Sycamore will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Oak Hills turned things around against Middletown on Tuesday. They blew past the Middies 13-6. The Highlanders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Brayden Lipps looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wil Kraus and Nick Sheridan did most of the damage at the plate: Kraus went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Sheridan went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Sheridan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Henry Maginn, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Sycamore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Indian Hill.

Oak Hills' win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Sycamore, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Everything went Oak Hills' way against Sycamore in their previous matchup back in April, as Oak Hills made off with a 9-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
