Aledo took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 21-14 win over the Guyer Wildcats. This was payback for the Bearcats, who suffered a 35-30 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Aledo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaden Winkfield led the charge by rushing for 85 yards and two scores.

Aledo didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Guyer to a completion percentage of just 27.3%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from five players: Chase Wilburn, Lamel Swanson, Ashton Hebel, Cole Cox, and Kamron Roshawn Hall, who each logged one passes deflected. Aledo wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 57.1%.

Guyer lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Zephyr Kreye, who rushed for 80 yards, and also threw for 93 yards and one touchdown. Another rusher making a difference was Kaedyn Cobbs, who rushed for 80 yards and one TD.

Aledo wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 18-0 victory against Lancaster on the 5th. As for Guyer, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-21 win against Martin on the 5th.
