Baseball Recap: Hudson Has No Trouble Against Gulf

Hudson won the last time they faced Gulf and things went their way on Monday too. Hudson put the hurt on Gulf with a sharp 9-2 victory.

Aiden Shuster made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Justin Mitchell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryder Tysko, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-2. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Gillespie, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Hudson's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-11. As for Gulf, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Hudson will be playing at home against Weeki Wachee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gulf, they will head out on the road to take on River Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
