Eastern has gone a perfect 6-0 against Trimble recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Eagles will take on the Tomcats at 5:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Eastern has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Trimble will arrive with seven straight wins.
Eastern made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Marietta, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 8-6 on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly two runs.
Aedre Ault 2028 made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one stolen base. Olivia White 2029 also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Trimble came out on top against Vinton County on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Tomcats had just enough and edged out the Vikings 7-6. That's two games straight that the Tomcats have won by just one run.
Jessa Davis made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Burdette was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Olivia Kasler, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Trimble's record now sits at 13-6. As for Eastern, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Eastern has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Trimble struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Eastern's way against Trimble in their previous meeting back in April, as Eastern made off with an 11-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
