Softball Recap: Century Finds Home Field Redemption Against South Fremont

There's no place like home for Century, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the South Fremont Cougars on Wednesday.

Ally Evans made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Olivia Weinwheimer and Lyndsee Ferguson did most of the damage at the plate: Weinwheimer scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Ferguson scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Weinwheimer has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kennadi Ozburn, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Century's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for South Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Century beat the Cougars by a score of 19-9 later that day.
