Preview: Hammond Bishop Noll Warriors vs. Thornwood Thunderbirds
The Hammond Bishop Noll Warriors will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Thornwood Thunderbirds at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
After a string of four wins, Hammond Bishop Noll's good fortune finally ran out last Friday. They suffered a rough 58-37 loss at the hands of Lake Station Edison. While losing is never fun, Hammond Bishop Noll can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Lake Station Edison is ranked 91st).
Despite the loss, Hammond Bishop Noll had strong showings from Jalyssia Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds, and Jaiden Hall, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Thornwood's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 48-16 loss at the hands of Thornton.
Hammond Bishop Noll's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Thornwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Hammond Bishop Noll suffered a grim 61-40 defeat to Thornwood in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Hammond Bishop Noll avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
