Soccer Game Preview: Thomson vs. Union County

The Thomson Bulldogs will face off against the Union County Panthers on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Thomson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Butler a 10-0 shutout. Considering Thomson has won 12 contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Union County's game on Thursday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Franklin County. Given Union County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Franklin County are ranked 264th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Thomson's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those eight matches. As for Union County, their record now sits at 15-3.
