Baseball Game Preview: Pocono Mountain East Cardinals vs. William Allen Canaries

The Pocono Mountain East Cardinals will face off against the William Allen Canaries at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Wednesday, Pocono Mountain East came up short against Freedom and fell 6-1. The matchup marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Pocono Mountain East got a good showing from Rily Calemmo, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Calemmo has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Bobby Ehrmann made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, William Allen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 6-2 to Emmaus. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

William Allen saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emill Roman, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Erick Lopez was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

William Allen's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Pocono Mountain East, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pocono Mountain East has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like William Allen struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Pocono Mountain East's way against William Allen when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Pocono Mountain East made off with an 11-1 victory.
