Basketball Recap: Queen Creek Takes a Loss

Queen Creek lost against Gilbert back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Queen Creek Bulldogs were outmatched by the Gilbert Tigers and fell 56-23. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-4.

Despite the loss, Queen Creek saw an underclassman step up: freshman Amaya Rodgers posted 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Rodgers has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Samarah Garduno, who put up nine points.

Gilbert's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabella Ivy, who scored 11 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Taylor, who went 6 for 9 en route to 13 points and five boards.

Queen Creek dropped their record down to 6-19 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Gilbert, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Queen Creek will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Williams Field at 7:00 p.m. As for Gilbert, they will head out to take on Higley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilbert is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.
