Basketball Recap: Betsy Layne Beats Floyd Central for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Betsy Layne entered their tilt with Floyd Central on Tuesday with five consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Floyd Central Jaguars by a score of 73-63. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 65-62 win back in January.

Betsy Layne was led to victory by Carter Parsons and Cameron Pente. Parsons went 9-for-21 on his way to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists, while Pente shot 75% from the field en route to 19 points along with seven assists and three steals. The game was Pente's fourth in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Allen, who posted eight points along with eight boards and four steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Betsy Layne was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Floyd Central lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lucas Howard, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. Dylan Boyd was another key player, shooting 71% from the field to rack up 13 points and five boards.

Betsy Layne pushed their record up to 17-9 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.4 points over those games.
