Preview: Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans vs. Tri-West Hendricks Bruins
The Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Tri-West Hendricks Bruins at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 6 on the offensive boards, a fact Indianapolis Bishop Chatard proved on Saturday. They came out on top against Franklin County by a score of 54-46.
Indianapolis Bishop Chatard found their leader in underclassman Olivia Berzai, who scored 18 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Johnson, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Tri-West Hendricks can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 64-40 margin over Indianapolis Arsenal Technical. Given Tri-West Hendricks' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Indianapolis Arsenal Technical is ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tri-West Hendricks' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Atta Garnett, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, and Lauren Bear, who scored 20 points along with four steals. Bear is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Aniyah Anthony was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Indianapolis Bishop Chatard has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Tri-West Hendricks, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-9.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's game: Indianapolis Bishop Chatard have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 38.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Tri-West Hendricks struggles in that department as they've only nailed 33.9% of their threes per game this season. Given Indianapolis Bishop Chatard's sizeable advantage in that area, Tri-West Hendricks will need to find a way to close that gap.
