Delta waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Gunnison Cowboys. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since March 15th.

Ripp Lockhart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Deacon Shean and Landen Horn did most of the damage at the plate: Shean went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Horn went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Horn has posted since back in March. Jhett Ryan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Delta lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Delta's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Gunnison, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Delta beat the Cowboys by a score of 13-6 later that day.
