St. Joseph waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Providence Catholic Provets a 6-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-1 back in March.

Not much got past Shayne Meismer, who gave up just two hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep Providence Catholic off the board. Meismer has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, St. Joseph saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elizabeth Arnecke, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That's the most hits Arnecke has posted since back in February.

St. Joseph's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Providence Catholic, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-11-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Joseph will challenge Hebbronville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Providence Catholic, they will square off against Saint Mary's Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Provets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Barons have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
