Basketball Recap: Flowing Wells Takes a Loss

Flowing Wells was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Casa Grande Cougars and fell 73-26. The Caballeros were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-13.

It was another big night for Dovantae Powell, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 16 points and three steals for Casa Grande. Powell's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Lewis, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points.

Flowing Wells' defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Casa Grande, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Flowing Wells will head out to take on Ironwood Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ironwood Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Flowing Wells likes a good challenge. As for Casa Grande, they will venture away from home to face off against Pueblo at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
