Football Game Preview: South Dade Buccaneers vs. Palmetto Panthers

South Dade is 1-8 against Palmetto since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Buccaneers will challenge the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, South Dade came up short against Columbus and fell 42-34. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Explorers are ranked 47th).

Meanwhile, Palmetto never let their opponents score on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 43-0 win over Coral Gables. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won seven in a row.

Palmetto's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for South Dade, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

South Dade was dealt a bruising 34-6 loss at the hands of Palmetto in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Buccaneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
