Softball Recap: Brunswick Finds Playoff Glory Versus Hoover

With a playoff win on the line, Brunswick rose to the challenge on Monday. They never let the Hoover Vikings get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 7-1 win the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

The result came thanks to Gabby Diligente's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brunswick saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abbey Nemec, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Brunswick has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hoover, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-17.

As of now, neither Brunswick nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
