Baseball Recap: Nederland Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Nederland couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Iowa Colony Pioneers by a score of 5-4 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pioneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 on Saturday.

Nederland has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 24-5 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Iowa Colony, they moved to 22-11 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Pioneers beat Nederland by a score of 5-0 later that day.
