Basketball Game Preview: Elkhart Elks vs. Groesbeck Goats

Elkhart hasn't had much luck against Groesbeck recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Elkhart Elks will challenge the Groesbeck Goats at 6:00 p.m. Groesbeck took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Elkhart, who comes in off a win.

Elkhart can't be too worried about heading out to take on Groesbeck: they just beat Buffalo at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Elkhart came out on top against Buffalo by a score of 47-35 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Groesbeck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 58-20 loss at the hands of Mexia. While losing is never fun, the Goats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1129th, while the Black Cats are ranked 425th).

Groesbeck's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Elkhart, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-18.

Elkhart didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Groesbeck in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 45-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elkhart since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
