Baseball Recap: Fair Haven Triumphs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Fair Haven had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Randolph Ghosts, sneaking past 5-4.

MASON GUTEL made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Fair Haven's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-9 when he doesn't). GUTEL was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on EASTON ADAMS, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Fair Haven's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. As for Randolph, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Coming up, Fair Haven will face off against Bellows Falls at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Slaters' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Terriers have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. Randolph does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
