Softball Game Preview: Bloom Blazing Trojan vs. Argo Argonauts

The Bloom Blazing Trojan will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Argo Argonauts at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bloom headed into their last contest having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Thornton Fractional South let them put that streak behind them. Bloom's pitchers stepped up to hand Thornton Fractional South a 14-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Blazing Trojan haven't had any issues with the Red Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Gabrielle Cowan was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aryana Knaack, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Bloom always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thornton Fractional South only posted an OBP of .118.

Meanwhile, Argo entered their tilt with Romeoville on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 6-2.

Argo's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bloom, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
