Basketball Recap: Mackenzie Mcclain's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Johnson County over West Greene

Johnson County was the 40-38 winner over West Greene when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Johnson County Longhorns took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Greene Buffaloes on Tuesday.

Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was MacKenzie McClain, who posted 14 points in addition to six assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Shaw, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

West Greene's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joie Shipley, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Morgan Brown was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Johnson County's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-17. As for West Greene, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Johnson County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-34 win against Lebanon on the 30th. West Greene has also already played their next contest (against South Greene), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
