Baseball Recap: United South Has No Trouble Against Ray

After only two runs in their last game, United South made sure to put some runs up on the board against Ray on Friday. The United South Panthers blew past the Ray Texans 10-2.

Roman Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gerardo Alvarez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Juan P Briseno was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

United South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ray only posted an OBP of .300.

United South's record now sits at 6-2. As for Ray, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

United South wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-1 defeat against Brenham on the 28th. As for Ray, they have also already played their next contest, a 14-4 loss against Los Fresnos on the 28th.
