Baseball Recap: Westmont's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Westmont dropped their record down to 21-9-1 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Holy Trinity Tigers by a score of 3-2. The Sentinels were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the seven contests prior), but the Tigers' pitcher proved too tough.

Westmont saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Briggs Templeton, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As for Holy Trinity, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games.

On Holy Trinity's side, Matt Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Noe Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Looking ahead, Westmont is taking a road trip to challenge Cristo Rey Jesuit at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Sentinels are facing the Cristeros at the right time seeing as the Cristeros are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Holy Trinity, they will be playing at home against Fasman Yeshiva at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fasman Yeshiva will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Holy Trinity surely won't give up without a fight.
