Baseball Recap: Magdalena Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Magdalena made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Melrose, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Steers put the hurt on the Buffaloes with a sharp 18-2 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Steers have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Magdalena got a big performance out of Joseph Zamora, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Jeffrey Stuteville was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Magdalena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

The win (which was Magdalena's seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Melrose, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Magdalena will welcome Logan at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Steers are on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), the Longhorns a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. As for Melrose, they will host Gateway Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
