Basketball Recap: Southwind Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Southwind waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Ridgeway Roadrunners as they made off with a 58-33 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-12.

Southwind's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ronald Towns, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 18 points. The matchup was Towns' fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Monterrio Cox was another key player, putting up six points in addition to eight assists and seven boards.

Southwind smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Ridgeway saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cameron Gates posted seven points.

Southwind's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Ridgeway, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Southwind won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lift for Life Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ridgeway, they will face off against Arlington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
