Basketball Recap: Calvert Hall Cardinals vs. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars
The Calvert Hall Cardinals waltzed into their matchup on Sunday with three straight wins but they left with four. They secured a 48-43 W over Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The win was all the more spectacular given Calvert Hall's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Cougars are ranked tenth).
Brendan Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Calvert Hall's points. Another player making a difference was Andre Moore, who scored five points along with two steals.
Calvert Hall pushed their record up to 14-15 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-7.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing John Carroll the next time they take the court. Calvert Hall will head out to face the Patriots at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Cougars will head out to face them at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
