Softball Game Preview: New Hope Trojans vs. Pontotoc Warriors

For the second straight game, New Hope will face off against Pontotoc. The Trojans will welcome the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (New Hope has ten straight wins, Pontotoc has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

New Hope is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Pontotoc, who was ranked 23rd at the time (New Hope was ranked 18th). The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Warriors 4-2.

Kaselyn Harcrow spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Presley Kate Boutwell and Tatum McBride did most of the damage at the plate: Boutwell went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while McBride scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those three RBI gave Boutwell a new career-high.

New Hope pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pontotoc, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
