Football Recap: Mcdonough Falls Despite Big Games from Drayden Gibbs and Jaylen Cherry + How To Watch

McDonough lost against Hampton back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Warhawks fell 25-14 to the Hornets.

Despite the defeat, McDonough had strong showings from Jaylen Cherry, who picked up 76 receiving yards and two scores, and Drayden Gibbs, who rushed for 106 yards on only 15 carries. Gibbs is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 102 every time he's taken the field this season.

Hampton had a senior duo take command as Aiden Louis rushed for 145 yards and one TD on only 13 carries and Breyden Shingles rushed for 125 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries. Those 125 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Shingles.

McDonough's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Hampton, their record is now 3-1.

McDonough didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-7 defeat against Stockbridge on the 12th. As for Hampton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 35-26 loss against Locust Grove on the 12th.
