Recap: Desert View Jaguars vs. Marana Tigers
The Desert View Jaguars''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 49-8 loss at the hands of Marana. Desert View was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.
Leading Marana to victory were Darian Dewitt and Colten "Coco" Meyer. Dewitt gained 105 total yards and two touchdowns, while Meyer threw for 274 yards and four touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes. Dezmen Roebuck made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Desert View's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Canyon del Oro and 6-2 Walden Grove (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70.8% over those games). As for Marana, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert View will face off against Cienega at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Cienega is ranked 92nd, while Desert View is ranked 103rd). As for Marana, they will head out on the road to face off against Casa Grande at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Casa Grande is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
