Basketball Recap: Effingham County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Shaunici Calhoun and Nakera M Hawkins

Effingham County lost against Johnson back in December of 2018 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Rebels fell 53-45 to the Atomsmashers.

Despite the loss, Effingham County had strong showings from Nakera M Hawkins, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds, and Shaunici Calhoun, who posted 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Effingham County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Johnson, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Effingham County will take on Windsor Forest at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Johnson, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Long County at 6:00 p.m. on December 5.
