Football Recap: Ida Baker Takes a Loss

The Ida Baker Bulldogs came up short against the Avon Park Red Devils on Friday and fell 29-19. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Although Ida Baker took the loss, they still got scores from Nikolas Korf, Nick Velez, and Jimmy Hynes.

Avon Park had a senior duo take command as Tayvion Jones rushed for 135 yards and one TD and Jabhari Payne rushed for 23 yards and one touchdown. Jones is becoming a predictor of the Red Devils' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't).

Ida Baker's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Avon Park, the win also got them back to even at 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Ida Baker will venture away from home to face off against Cape Coral at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Seahawks' defense has only allowed 10.9 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Avon Park, they will head out to square off against Tenoroc at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Red Devils' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
