Baseball Recap: Bedford North Lawrence Beats Vincennes Rivet for Their Fifth Straight Win

Bedford North Lawrence proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Vincennes Rivet Patriots 7-6. The victory was nothing new for the Stars as they're now sitting on five straight.

Chase Rynders looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cal Gates, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaden Gilbert, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Bedford North Lawrence hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vincennes Rivet struck out seven times.

Bedford North Lawrence's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Vincennes Rivet, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-6 record.
