Soccer Game Preview: Lake Gibson vs. Lakeland

Lake Gibson hasn't had much luck against Lakeland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lake Gibson Braves will challenge the Lakeland Dreadnaughts at 7:00 p.m. Lake Gibson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.5 goals per game this season.

Lake Gibson is headed into the contest having not lost since December 16 and will look to keep things rolling. They and Sebring finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw on Friday. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Braves have been dealt a draw since back in December of 2024.

Lindsey Gonsalves and Peyton Haynes scored both of Lake Gibson's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Meanwhile, Lakeland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bulldogs an 8-0 shutout. The Dreadnaughts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by three goals or more this season.

Lakeland's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those six games. With that draw, Lake Gibson's record moves to 10-7-3.
