Basketball Recap: Riverside Prep Silver Knights vs. Silver Valley Trojans

After flying high against Academy for Academic Excellence last Tuesday, Riverside Prep came back down to earth. The Riverside Prep Silver Knights lost to the Silver Valley Trojans on the road by a 79-62 margin on Tuesday. The Silver Knights lost against the Trojans in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 83-43 score last time.

Silver Valley was led to victory by Jasean Phillips and Javion Taylor. Phillips went 8 for 16 on his way to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Taylor dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. Taylor is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Judah Caldwell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Riverside Prep's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-6. As for Silver Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Riverside Prep will welcome Hesperia Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverside Prep has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 197 points over their last three contests. As for Silver Valley, they will venture away from home to take on Apple Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
