Basketball Recap: Edgewood Falls Despite Big Games from Ava Laroche and Macey Crider

After soaring to 66 points the game before, Edgewood was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They took a 38-21 bruising from the Cascade Cadets. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Cadets recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Edgewood's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Macey Crider, who posted 12 points and eight boards, and Ava Laroche, who had five points and five rebounds. Crider has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times she's played.

Macey Pugh was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds for Cascade. What's more, Pugh also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Austin, who put up ten points and three steals.

Edgewood's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Cascade, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.

Edgewood will be playing at home against Bloomington North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cascade, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-44 win against Greencastle on the 25th.
