Volleyball Recap: Sawyer Holt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grace Christian Academy over Thomas County Central

If Grace Christian Academy was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Colquitt County last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars lost 3-0 to the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets on Tuesday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellow Jackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Grace Christian Academy was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Thomas County Central's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-18, 25-20.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sawyer Holt, who had seven digs and four aces.

Grace Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Thomas County Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grace Christian Academy will host Colquitt County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Thomas County Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Warner Robins at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
