Tri-Valley - West recap November 19, 2013

Ithaca's Bryan Shaw recorded the longest rushing play in Tri-Valley - West this season in his game against Negaunee last week. Shaw's team beat the Miners as he sprinted for 85 yards on the play and finished with 214 in all.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Ithaca beat Negaunee 62-34. The win marks 12th in a row for the Terry Hessbrook's team.

The Yellowjackets' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Travis Smith threw for 417 and 5 touchdowns and Logan Hessbrook had 217 yards receiving. On the ground Shaw chipped in 214 yards. Josh Hafner helped Ithaca's passing attack out by catching 8 balls for 81 yards.

He was 25-39 with 3 interceptions.

Shaw was a beast in the backfield as Ithaca bested Paul Jacobson's team.

Hessbrook had an awesome week catching the football as the Yellowjackets bested the Miners. He caught 7 passes for 217 yards.

Shaw was the best running back in the league this week. Smith also contributed to the rushing game with 88 yards on the ground.

Ithaca's Smith and Hessbrook led Tri-Valley - West in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Smith has thrown for 2,773 yards this season, while Hessbrook has 48 catches for 986 yards. St. Charles's Kevin Brownlie leads the league in rushing yards with 1,001.

The Yellowjackets' Hessbrook needs only 14 receiving yards against Hill-McCloy to crack 1,000 for the season. He has recorded 48 catches for 986 yards this year.

Shaw of the Ithaca is just 16 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Shaw has rushed for 984 yards on 106 carries so far this year.

The Yellowjackets moved up to 26 from 53 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Ithaca climbed the ranks as a result of beating Negaunee 62-34.
