Basketball Recap: Austin College and Career Academy Comes Up Short

Austin College and Career Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 71-30 loss at the hands of the Little Village Phoenix. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Phoenix apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Little Village's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Pablo Rodriguez led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tyshawn Spires, who posted eight points in addition to eight steals and six assists.

Austin College and Career Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Little Village, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.

After both having extra time off, Austin College and Career Academy and Jones will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Little Village, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Chicago Tech at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Little Village is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.3 points per game this season.
