Baseball Recap: Zapata Has No Trouble Against Roma

Zapata had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Roma on Monday. The Zapata Hawks blew past the Roma Gladiators 10-4. Considering the Hawks have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Jay Solis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Benavides, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Zapata's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Roma, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-6-1 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zapata will take on Falfurrias at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Roma, they will face off against Los Fresnos at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Los Fresnos' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Roma's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
