Soccer Game Preview: Lincolnton vs. Newton-Conover

The Lincolnton Wolves will head out to square off against the Newton-Conover Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Lincolnton turned things around against Bunker Hill on Tuesday. They never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 2-0 win.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newton-Conover). They put the hurt on West Caldwell with a sharp 9-0 victory on Tuesday. Stella Phillips was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

The win was the third in a row for Newton-Conover, bringing their record for this year to 3-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matchups. As for Lincolnton, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
