The Roosevelt Roughriders are taking a road trip to challenge the Coolidge Colts at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Roosevelt has given up an average of 26.4 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Roosevelt is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of District of Columbia's top teams: Dunbar, who was ranked eighth at the time (Roosevelt was ranked 11th). The Roughriders were beaten by the Crimson Tide 46-19 on Thursday. The Roughriders haven't had much luck with the Crimson Tide recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Roosevelt had strong showings from Gabriel Hudgens, who picked up 100 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and David Anderson, who threw for 301 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. The Roughriders are 2-1 when Anderson posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise. A healthy portion of Anderson's aerial production (86 yards to be exact) also went to Dorien Ouzts.
Meanwhile, Coolidge got themselves on the board against Jackson-Reed on Saturday, but Jackson-Reed never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 41-0 win over the Tigers. The Colts pushed the score to 35-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers had no chance of recovering from.
Coolidge's win came from a few key players Roosevelt will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aleem Moore, who threw for 110 yards and three TDs on only nine passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (148.1). Brandon Austin helped Moore out on the ground, rushing for 85 yards and one score on only nine carries.
The victory made it two in a row for Coolidge and bumps their season record up to 5-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 points in those games. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Roosevelt came up short against Coolidge in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 28-21. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Moore, who threw for 294 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 32 yards and one score. Now that the Roughriders know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
