Football Game Preview: Mason County Royals vs. Harrison County Thorobreds/Fillies

Mason County is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They are taking a road trip to challenge the Harrison County Thorobreds/Fillies at 7:30 p.m. Mason County has given up an average of 29.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 41-13, which was the final score in Mason County's tilt against Lawrence County on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky football rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 40th).

Mason County's defeat came about despite a quality game from Micah Payne, who picked up 33 receiving yards and two TDs.

Meanwhile, Harrison County fell victim to Highlands and their airtight defense last Friday. They were dealt a 53-0 loss at the hands of the Bluebirds. The game marked the first time this year in which the Thorobreds/Fillies were not able to get on the board.

Harrison County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Mason County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Mason County against Harrison County when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 35-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
