There's no place like home for Vernon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the High Point Wildcats 3-2. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Miranda Ebbighausen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Vernon's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emily Getz, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Vernon's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for High Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.

Vernon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-0 win against North Warren Regional on the 14th. As for High Point, they have also already played their next contest, a 9-3 victory against Hackettstown on the 14th.
