Tonawanda hasn't had much luck against East Aurora recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Timberwolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Devils at 5:15 p.m. Tonawanda is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Tonawanda came up short against Alden on Monday, falling 15-2. The contest marked the Timberwolves' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Tonawanda saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Sevenski, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Emma Genovese also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, East Aurora made easy work of Kennedy on Monday and carried off a 19-2 victory. Considering the Blue Devils have won four games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Improta was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, East Aurora got a massive performance out of Sage Rozanski, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave Rozanski a new career-high. Emily Seifert was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
East Aurora pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Tonawanda, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tonawanda has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like East Aurora struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
