Basketball Recap: Stella Charles Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Omaha Christian Academy

There's no place like home for Mead, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 37-28 win over the Omaha Christian Academy Eagles on Friday. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 38-34 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Mead's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Stella Charles led the charge by putting up two points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds Charles has posted since back in December of 2024. Jade Grasiani was another key player, posting five points and seven boards.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bridget Townsend, who had eight points and 13 rebounds. Townsend is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Wheelock, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Mead picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-19. As for Omaha Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season.

Mead will have a chance to go back-to-back against Omaha Christian Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
