Basketball Game Preview: Starmont Stars vs. Anamosa Raiders

The Starmont Stars will face off against the Anamosa Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 16 consecutive losses for Starmont and four for Anamosa.

Last Tuesday, Starmont had to suffer through a 87-13 loss at the hands of Springville. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the Orioles are ranked 74th).

Meanwhile, Anamosa took a blow against Bellevue on Tuesday, falling 63-34.

Anamosa's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Starmont, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.

Starmont was taken down by Anamosa 68-10 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Starmont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
