Preview: Columbia Raiders vs. Carey Blue Devils

The Columbia Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Carey Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Columbia took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 56-14 victory over Mapleton.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Columbia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marco Cirigliano, who rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also picked up 73 receiving yards. Cirigliano was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Meier, who threw for 221 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Meanwhile, Carey had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. Everything went their way against Crestview as Carey made off with a 29-6 win. Given Carey's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Crestview is ranked 461st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Columbia's win was their 13th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.6 points per game. As for Carey, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
